Cake Batter

Ingredients

  • 237 g (1 cup) Coffee (brewed), hot
  • 109 g (½ cup) Vegetable Oil

Steps

  1. 1Preheat oven to 350°F.
  2. 2Mix all dry ingredients (flour, sugar, cocoa, baking soda, baking powder, salt) in a large bowl.
  3. 3In another bowl, whisk together eggs, buttermilk, hot coffee, and oil.
  4. 4Combine wet and dry ingredients, mixing until just combined.
  5. 5Pour batter into two greased 9-inch round cake pans.

Chocolate Ganache Frosting

Ingredients

  • 28 g (¼ stick OR 2 tbsp) Butter
  • 227 g (15 tbsp ¾ tsp) Heavy Cream
  • 340 g (2 cups) Chocolate Chips

Steps

  1. 1Heat heavy cream in a saucepan until it just begins to simmer.
  2. 2Place chocolate chips and butter in a heatproof bowl.
  3. 3Pour hot cream over chocolate and butter.
  4. 4Let sit for 2 minutes without stirring.
  5. 5Whisk until smooth and glossy.
  6. 6Let cool to spreading consistency (about 30 minutes), stirring occasionally.
  7. 7Frost the cooled cake layers and enjoy!
